It’s content creation time! But where do you start? How do you know what to write about? Creating multi-platform content can be soooooo overwhelming and take up a ton of time you’d rather spend doing literally anything else. So, we’ve put together our 5 top tips to help you batch multi-platform content like a total pro.
Know your audience
Once you know who you’re talking to, your tone and topics come easy. You need to know what they care about and what content will resonate with them. Focus on giving answers to their common problems, stuff that feels personal so they think you’re in their head. Create an emotional connection by writing content with heart, it positions you as an expert and makes them far more likely to part with their cold hard cash.
Have clear themes
Clear themes give your content structure and make coming up with ideas easier. Without them you risk getting stuck in content creation quicksand and end up talking about completely irrelevant things or, worse, experiencing post-paralysis! Clear themes make putting together content that is focused smack bang in the middle of stuff you know about much easier. These should be heavily reliant on things your audience cares about so make sure you’ve got that bit down.
Set time aside
Dedicate a regular time to creating content and block it out in your diary! This is all about routine and discipline. The more regimented your content creation process, the easier it is for you to batch at a faster rate. By scheduling content creation into your diary it becomes more of a habit and you get in a flow of creating at certain times. Without a set date for creating new content, you’re far less likely to actually do it. So be sure to block out time for content creation in your calendar. Don’t be afraid to keep a notebook handy for when inspiration hits outside those times though! Us creatives cannot be contained.
Repurpose content
There’s no need to reinvent the content wheel. Make existing content work harder by taking what you’ve created before and repurposing it to suit a new platform. This saves you time and headspace because you’re not coming up with entirely new ideas, just building on an existing foundation you know performed well. For example, you could turn your blog post into an ebook with links, repurpose captions into blog posts (like I did with this blog), or reuse video content by taking snippets to use on other platforms.
Automate processes
Automate any and every process you can within your business, not just your content. It saves time and headspace. We love ContentCal for scheduling content across different platforms and Flick for monitoring hashtag performance on Instagram. You simply link them to your profiles and they do the rest. All you need to do is check in on them every once in a while. Perfection.
Use these top tips next time you’re batching content and you’ll have it done in no time. We got you!
